How to survive the post-Christmas blues

December is zooming by, and all of the Christmas excitement will eventually turn into New Year’s celebrations. However, if you know you’re prone to the post-Christmas blues and want to kick start your New Year the right way, follow these tips to help you become more proactive once the Christmas decorations have come down and a new year begins.

Plan ahead

Going back to normal after Christmas can be hard, so try to fill your diary with new things to look forward to in the New Year. Even if you plan a couple of movie nights or schedule some time to catch up on your favourite TV shows, it can really help keep your spirits high.

Get active

Some people make going to the gym their New Year’s resolution, but you don’t have to go that far if you don’t want to. However, exercise is great for your mental and physical health, so maybe swap the car for a bike or take lunch time walks to clear the cobwebs.

Make some changes

If you’re bored of the way you normally do things, change it up. Even if it’s simply the smallest of steps, like trying to eat more fruit in your diet. Rearranging your living space can also be a mental boost.

Declutter

Clutter in the house can have an impact on your outlook in the New Year, so when it comes to taking down the Christmas decorations, have a think about what else you can store or get rid of.
