When it comes to taking the Christmas decorations down in the New Year, your house can sometimes look a little bare or disappointing. However, even if the magic of Christmas has gone, you can still keep some of the wintry aspects of your Christmas decor to sustain some of that festive coziness.
Remove red Christmas decorations but leave green ones
The combination of red and green together is typically the colour scheme you see throughout Christmas, so all the obvious Christmas decorations can be packed away, especially the red ones. However, green decor such as wreaths or table centre pieces can be left or repurposed for décor that lasts all Winter long. You can also add neutral colours to go really wintry.
Declutter
Even if you’re leaving some of your Christmas decor up for a bit longer, try to declutter at the same time. It will make all the difference when you’re trying to enjoy your living room space and make it easier to transition to other styles and decors further down the line.
Swap out your Christmas candles for neutral ones
Candles are perfect during all of the winter months, so even if you pack away most of the festive ones, keep the ones that are more neutral dotted about your home and choose scents that are less seasonal.
Stay cosy
Even if you’re swapping out Christmas items for fresh neutral ones, make sure you’re still emphasising that cosy feeling with plenty of cushions and throws.
