The Christmas clean-up guide

Nobody enjoys the after Christmas clean-up, but it’s got to be done otherwise you’d have a tree in your living room all year round. And even though the end of the holidays can be sad, you can choose to look at it positively and think about how much space you’ll be reclaiming once the Christmas decorations are packed away. The trick for the Christmas clean-up is to follow this guide.

Have a good time

If you start to dread the Christmas clean-up, then you’re only going to put it off. So instead, make it fun by getting everyone together, putting on some music, and keep the drinks and snacks flowing. It doesn’t have to be dull.

Make some memories

Before you do decide to pack things away, make some memories and take some pictures of your Christmas decorations to look back on next year. It will be nice to compare your set up each year and what new additions you may have acquired.

Make a list

Making a list is not a job just for Santa Claus, but it can really help when organising your Christmas clean-up day. Ticking each one off also feels like an accomplishment!

Store things properly

It can be tempting to just throw things in a box and make it next year’s problem, but save yourself the trouble of detangling Christmas lights and fixing baubles by storing them properly in the first place. Wrap up breakable ornaments and store them in boxes, and make use of cardboard to wrap lights around so they’re easier to sort out next Christmas.
