How to make birds feel at home in your garden

There’s nothing quite like sharing the enjoyment of your garden with other creatures that love the outdoors like birds. They can be interesting to watch, but they can also help your garden thrive and grow. But just like us, they like their home comforts. The following tips will help you prepare your garden for the pretty winged visitors.

Provide shelter

Not all birds will need the cover of shelter, but it’s important to provide a place they can go to if they need to. This can also be a good place to keep them safe from predators. If birds know they are safe, they are more likely to visit.

Provide food

The more food you provide, the more birds will visit. Food can be in the form of the plants that you grow, or you can provide it by setting up one or two bird dining stations. The birds will know they don’t have to forage as hard for food and will end up visiting your garden more often.

Provide water

Most importantly, make sure there’s a water source for birds that visit your garden, and position it in a safe space where they will be away from any predators. Birds will love to drink or bathe in your garden, and you’ll get to see them enjoying your set up. Just make sure it’s only around 2 inches deep as you may get birds of all sizes visiting and you want it to be safe enough for them to take a dip.
