Fairy lights are a classic Christmas decoration in homes all over the country, but they are being used more and more all year round too. While they traditionally wrap around your Christmas tree, there are plenty of other places that fairy lights can add some sparkle.
Light up your stairs
You can attach fairy lights to your banister in any number of patterns, from just the handrail to each banister post. You could even line the base of each step with lights for a dramatic illumination, making your stairs a feature in themselves.
Make a wall tree
If you don’t want a real tree or don’t have the space, creating a wall tree is a popular move these days. Attach fairy lights in the shape of a tree on your wall and add some ornaments to complete the decorated tree look.
Jars and vases
There is something magical about a cluster of fairy lights in a Mason jar or vase. Add other festive decorations or keep it simple with just the lights. Place your jars around the house or take them outside for some firepit marshmallow roasting.
Make a fire
If you have a fireplace but don’t want the work of a real fire, fairy lights could be the answer. Put some logs or coals into your fireplace and arrange your fairy lights around them. When lit, they give the impression of flickering flames.
Of course, you can get really creative and drape fairy lights almost everywhere. They add a bright cheerfulness wherever they are placed, whether strung across your ceiling or in their traditional place around the tree.
