As we get well into the height of summer, we are all welcoming these warm sunny days when we can spend evenings and weekends on our rattan garden furniture relaxing or hosting BBQs.
However, the heat can get a little too much sometimes as we all know, and our garden also feels the effects of this. There are ways you can take care of your plants in the hot weather, but you must heed the following advice to stop your plants and lawn becoming dried out and unhealthy.
Water regularly, but not too frequently
If you water your lawn and other plants on a regular schedule, with plenty of water each time, you don’t need to water them as frequently. Making sure the soil is fully moist will give your plants enough moisture to keep it going.
Don’t water at the hottest point of the day
Water when it’s cooler during the day because watering when the sun is at its hottest will just dry your plants out. The moisture they should be getting will just dry up.
Wait until summer is over to plant new crops
The soil tends to be too hard during the hotter months. It will be much easier to plant in the autumn when the soil is still warm but there is less chance of it drying out completely.
Be sure to take some, if not all of this advice on board to keep your plants as healthy as possible.
