A lot more people are opting to buy pre-lit Christmas trees these days, and not just because they are an easy option. They look good too, offering impressive illumination with minimal effort. The effect depends on you keeping them clean though, and here is how to do that.
Unplug the tree
The best first step would be to clean the tree before setting it up, but either way it must be unplugged for cleaning. Take the time to go through all of the branches on your tree to see if any of the bulbs are damaged. If they are, you will need to replace them – if not, you can move on to the next part.
Wipe the lighted sections
Gently wipe the parts of the tree where the lights are, using a cloth that is dry. The best type of cloth to use for this will be a micro-fibre one. You are just trying to get rid of dust and small particles of dirt, so go easy when you are wiping. If your pre-lit Christmas tree has string lights, you may find a compressed air duster does the job more effectively.
Clean the non-lighted parts
Those parts of your tree that do not contain any electrical components can be cleaned with a wet cloth. This should only ever be damp rather than wringing wet though. Once you have finished, give the tree time to dry before you put the plug in.
Follow these few simple steps if you want to keep your pre-lit Christmas tree in tip-top condition.
