There are certain festive traditions that we all recognise – including putting up Christmas decorations and giving each other cards and gifts.
Another accepted tradition is that there will be turkey left over from the Christmas dinner. So, how can you use it up? Here are three great ideas.
Turkey sandwiches
Yes, it is basic – but this is all you are likely to be up for on Boxing Day. Putting some of the leftover turkey on sandwiches with mayonnaise and cranberry sauce will make for a delicious afternoon snack. You can always toast them with bacon and cheese if you are feeling a bit more adventurous.
Turkey buffet
Another great option that does not involve a lot of effort is to make the turkey part of a Boxing Day buffet. It can be combined with other cold offerings like cheese, pickles and chutney or ham, cold potatoes and salad. One of the best parts about this option is that people can pick and choose what they want.
Turkey fried rice
This idea requires a bit more cooking work – but not all that much. All you have to do is fry up some ginger and garlic in a pan before adding vegetables and frying until they are soft. Then, put the rice in, followed by the turkey and some soy sauce. Finally, scramble some eggs and add them. The whole process shouldn’t be too time consuming and will result in a delicious meal.
If you use some of these ideas, you’ll end up being grateful for all that leftover turkey!
