Most gardens have a moderate number of shaded areas. However, some gardens may not be so lucky to have the sun in the most prime position and may have a number of shady spots. This doesn’t always matter though, as you can still tend to your garden and make it a lively and homey space, complete with Norfolk Leisure LIFE garden furniture to enjoy the space with. You just have to know what to plant.
Primrose
Primroses thrive in partially shaded areas, as long as they get enough moisture in their soil. There are different kinds however, so it is best to check the plant’s needs before investing and make sure they’re right for your garden.
Snowdrops
According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), snowdrops can dry out quite quickly so will benefit from shade and lots of moisture. The compost they’re planted in also has to be able to contain the moisture, so do your research before buying.
Foxglove
A UK native plant, the foxglove also thrives in shady spaces, so if your garden has plenty of it, these will make a great addition. The RHS explains that they enjoy soil similar to that found in woodlands, which is full of organic matter.
Bluebells
Bluebells’s natural habitat is also the woodland, so they do well in the shade underneath trees. Depending on your garden set up, they can be planted in containers or in the ground, as long as they are planted in well-draining soil.
Whichever plants you end up choosing for your garden, be sure to make the most of the sun while you still can.
