A lot of us will be well in the swing of getting our gardens summer ready, but what about those of us who might not be able to afford to do much to their gardens this year?
Many people are looking for cheaper ways to live, and that includes maintaining a garden. Luckily, there are several things you can do to update your garden on a budget so that you can still enjoy your rattan garden furniture outside this summer.
Declutter
One of the cheapest ways to start updating your garden is to get rid of any clutter. This includes any debris such as leaves, branches or dead plants. Your garden will start to look tidier straight away.
Repurpose broken or old items
While you’re decluttering, if you find any broken pots or old wellington boots, keep them. These can be repurposed into garden features or used for planting new life. Old tools from the kitchen can also be used in the garden. A colander, for example, can easily be turned into a hanging basket.
Buy cheaper plants
Like everything, the cost of plants is not going down, so do a little research on what are the cheapest plants to buy or see if your garden centre or supermarket have any that are reduced.
Add lighting
One simple addition to update your garden is by simply adding lighting. You can find affordable outdoor fairy lights on a budget or use candles for an added cosy glow.
Be creative with what you have, and you might come up with even more ideas for your garden.
