Having a garden is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, especially if you have a dedicated space to watch the wildlife from your Lifestyle garden furniture. Plants, mammals and insects can enjoy your space too, and it’s really easy to encourage more wildlife to your garden with the following tips.
Keep an area of your lawn longer than the rest
Having a neat lawn is definitely important, but that doesn’t mean you can’t dedicate a small area to being a bit longer. This gives small animals a place to shelter and hide, adding all sorts of benefits to the rest of your garden and plants. You can even plant wildflowers around the edge to really make it a feature.
Add a wildlife pond
During the past 100 years, unfortunately almost 70% of ponds within the UK have been lost, so garden ponds are even more important. Even if you don’t have the resources to create a pond straight away, simple water features will attract their own wildlife and create a habitat for new visitors.
Vary your plants
Different types of plants will encourage different types of wildlife. Bees and other pollinators will benefit from plants that are pollen rich, as well as caterpillars and butterflies, and shrubs that grow berries and fruits are beneficial to birds.
Plant a border
For even more insects and pollinators, a dedicated border of varying plants will be very attractive.
By following these tips, you’ll soon be counting all the different species visiting your garden.
