4 tips for easy garden maintenance

There is always something new to learn when it comes to gardening. It can be worth keeping your ears and eyes open for new tips and tricks that might pop up to help you save time and money in your garden. This is all important if you want to spend as much time on your Outback reclining chairs as possible.

1. Give your plant a companion

Companion planting is a great method for getting the most out of your current plants and also stopping pests. All you need to do is first find out what plants can be planted next to each other for the best relationship, and then get planting. This has proven to stop pests and is a great alternative to pesticides.

2. Do your research

Even the savviest of gardeners does their research, and most gardening mistakes can be avoided by simply reading the plant label, doing some online searching, or even phoning your local garden centre for advice.

3. Use wood to get rid of slugs

You may have heard of using crushed eggshells to keep slugs away, but another deterrent is wood. Slugs will tend to crawl underneath materials like wood for shade, which means you can collect them up and get them out of your garden.

4. Keep an eye out for harmful plants

Again, doing your research is important because there are a number of plants that are harmful to your garden if grown nearby. Himalayan balsam and Japanese knotweed are ones to keep a lookout for, as well as if there are any willow, oak or poplar trees growing nearby.
