How to help these 4 friendly garden visitors

You might not think that what you do in your garden makes much of an impact, but it definitely does have effects on the environment and the friendly creatures that visit. Even if your garden is small, there are many ways you can help the environment and the wildlife within it, and in doing so, you can enjoy watching these visitors from your Lifestyle garden furniture.

1. Birds

The most common garden visitor is the bird. If birds are met with a comfortable environment complete with food and water, they will tend to keep coming back. Plants that produce seeds or berries are great to keep birds visiting all year round, as well as any plants or flowers that are likely to attract insects.

2. Bees

Bees are very important for the growth of your garden environment. You can make their lives easier by creating containers for them to use once they come out of hibernation. Snowdrops will entice them in, and herbs such as rosemary and lavender will provide nectar.

3. Hedgehogs

Hedgehogs can have a rough time in the wild, with numbers decreasing over the past 20 years. You can give them safety through log piles in quiet areas of your garden. Dead wood from your garden will do, but will need replacing over time.

4. Frogs

Some gardens have ponds to attract more wildlife, and while frogs do like ponds, make sure yours has an entrance slope for younger frogs to leave the water easily. The Royal Horticultural Society recommends giving them a place half in and out of the water for them to breathe and rest.
