Amongst the planning and the busyness of Christmas comes the feeling of gratitude for all that we have. As we cosy up beside the fairy lights with a cup of something warm, our minds often turn to those who are less fortunate. This year more than ever, people across the country may find themselves in a different situation to last Christmas. If you are able, you may want to help a little.
Bearing in mind the current regulations that might restrict us volunteering in person, here are some basic ways you can give something back this Christmas:
Donate money
The simplest way to support a charity is to donate some funds. You could make a one-off donation to a cause you’re passionate about, or set up standing orders.
Donate items
Food banks always welcome donations, and at Christmas time, they can find themselves particularly hard hit. Remember, it doesn’t have to be a practical tin of beans – those in need of food would welcome some treats like anybody else.
Charity gifts
Rather than getting your loved one yet another pair of socks, why not let them in on the charitable spirit too? You can often donate to a charity in someone’s name, and they can receive a card letting them know what the money has achieved.
Whether you stick close to home or focus your efforts abroad, you will undoubtedly feel good for spreading a little Christmas cheer and charity if you are in a position to this year.
