Most of us love the idea of a true white Christmas, with snow lying on the ground, snowball fights after dinner and sledging down hills all conjuring up images of simple, festive fun.
Unfortunately, in the UK, it could just as easily be rain we’re greeted with on Christmas morning. If you’d like to create a magical snowy Christmas without relying on the weather, here are three ideas to get you started:
Snow Christmas trees
Artificial Christmas trees come in all sorts of styles and colours. Many have a snowy effect, which gives a lovely illusion of a dusting of white on dark evergreen branches. Once your fairy lights and Christmas decorations are added, the whole image is one of white Christmas magic.
Snow globes
If you can’t count on the real sky delivering snowflakes, you can create your own snowy scene in miniature. Grab yourself a snow globe, or make your own with an old jar, and relax by watching the tiny flakes swirl.
Hanging snowflakes
Making snowflakes is a great Christmas crafting idea for the kids or any creative adults in the house. Create white snowflakes from paper and card and hang them from the ceiling. Don’t forget a liberal sprinkling of glitter for a shimmery, frosty look as the lights bounce off of them.
Perhaps this year, we will experience a true white Christmas. However, if we don’t, these simple ideas will help create the same festive atmosphere indoors.
