Four points to remember when decorating your twig tree

Twig trees are a lovely alternative to a traditional Christmas tree. They are slimline and minimalistic, so if you are short of space, they won’t take up a lot of room. However, even if you stick to a more typical Christmas tree, a pre-lit twig tree could be a bright addition to another part of your home, such as the kitchen or hallway.

While they are low fuss, there are a few points to remember when decorating a twig tree for Christmas:

Tree topper

You won’t be able to place a star or angel on top of your twig tree in the usual way, but you can pick a star-shaped bauble or decoration and hang it on the uppermost branch.

Keep it light

You can hang baubles on your twig tree, but remember, it won’t take the same weight as a tree with thick, bushy branches. Keep your decorations lightweight towards the top of the tree and on any spindly branches.

Minimal colour scheme

One of the joys of a twig tree is that it’s minimalistic. With this in mind, a no fuss colour scheme tends to work better. Stick to one or two decoration colours.

Decorate every angle

Whereas you might get away with keeping the wall-facing part of your traditional Christmas tree bare, the twig tree is see-through to the back. Don’t forget to decorate all the way around.

All in all, a twig tree is a great way to add some chic and simplistic festive flair to your home this year.
