If watching the Chelsea Flower Show or reading press coverage has whetted your appetite for next year, perhaps you’re considering booking tickets. Here are some of the highlights of the show that took place May 21st – 25th as an example of what you might expect to see in 2020.
The Artisan Studios
Housed in dressed-up garden buildings, the Artisan Studios showcased both traditional and modern works from six craftspeople. They included a ceramicist, fabric designer, sculptor and writer, and the more unusual exhibits featured steam-bent wood and hand-printed textiles.
Health and wellbeing
Across the show, the positive effects of gardening and spending time in green spaces was celebrated. Themes included city gardens, Japanese herbal medicine, saving the rainforest, and the therapeutic benefits of outdoor spaces for those with special needs.
Food and drink
For those in need of break, plenty of refreshment and dining options awaited attendees at the Chelsea Flower Show. From a cafe brunch to a champagne afternoon tea at The Drawing Room or Jardin Blanc’s menu crafted by Raymond Blanc, there were eateries, food courts and picnic spots aplenty.
The Great Pavilion
Home to floral displays from all over the globe, the Great Pavilion also featured the Discovery Zone, an interactive show garden, a royal floral crown contest for Queen Victoria’s 200th birthday and a commemorative David Austin Roses’ 50th birthday display.
Retail therapy
Last but not least, you could shop in style at the Chelsea Flower Show. From garden tools or lifestyle garden furniture to clothing, jewellery, textiles and gifts, there was plenty of choice for those after a lasting reminder of a special day out.
