If you have good quality rattan, lifestyle or Charles Taylor garden furniture, you will probably have no need to change it. They are built to be durable and to stand the test of time. However, as time passes our tastes change, or we might fancy mixing things up a little.
1. Paint
If you have wooden garden furniture, a freshen up with paint can transform it or create a whole new look. Clean and sand down any rough areas first and explore all the outdoor wood paint colours. You could go bright and bold, soft and pastel, or simply refresh the natural wood look with a wood stain.
2. Cushions
One of the simplest ways to update or change the look of your furniture is to change the cushion covers. Most garden furniture cushions have removable covers so the choices are endless. You could have a unified colour scheme, or mix and match colour and patterns.
3. Rearrange
Just like indoors, sometimes a furniture rearrangement can work wonders to freshen up the look and feel of your outdoor seating area. It could be a simple 90-degree turnaround of a dining area, or picking up and relocating to an entirely different part of the garden for a change.
4. Covers and lighting
If your dining area is normally exposed, try a gazebo or pergola to create a covered area. This provides plenty of space to hang lights and keep cosy from summer showers. It also means a hot, sunny area now becomes a cool tranquil one, giving the whole seating area a different feel.
