A guide to pre-lit Christmas trees

If you want to brighten up your home or workplace this Christmas but don’t have a lot of time – or space – to spare, then pre-lit Christmas trees can be a great option. There’s a choice of various types, which include the following:

Fibre optic Christmas trees

Fibre optic Christmas trees have been around for some time now, but they have changed with the times. Now they are mostly lit by LEDs, which are far more energy-efficient, as well as safer and more reliable, than older types of lighting. As many of these trees feature colour-changing light displays, you can simply unpack this tree, plug in and you have an effective festive display with minimal effort.

Twig trees

Twig trees generally comprise a leaf-free tree, such as those found outdoors in autumn and winter. Instead of foliage, the branches are decorated with lights. These come in a choice of shades, including ice, cool or warm white. There are also different shapes, from those that resemble birch or fir trees to some that are highly stylised with poker-straight branches. The “trunk” and branches may be made from warmly-toned twisted copper wire, or use cool tones like a real silver birch tree.

2D trees

2D pre lit trees are a great option, particularly where space is at a premium or if you want to brighten up a plain wall or dark corner. These flat lighting displays are typically shaped like a traditional fir tree, with the branches lit by between 50 and 120 warm white LEDs.
