Whether you’re arranging the office Christmas party this year or planning a smaller festive gathering at home, have you thought about giving the event a theme? Doing so can inspire everything from guests’ outfits to the Christmas decorations you use. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
1. Christmas light fantastic
For something different this year, why not take a group of kids or friends on a trip to see the best Christmas light displays in your area? Don’t forget some small change, as many streets taking part will collect charity donations in return for supplying spectacular light shows.
2. The nightmare before Christmas
If Christmas all seems just a bit too happy, add a dark twist to a grown-up gathering by asking guests to dress up in their Halloween finery once more. You could even light up the room with some creatively carved pumpkins, too.
3. Beach Christmas
Unless you live in Australia or spend the holidays somewhere hot each Decmeber, Christmas by the beach is not likely to happen. Unless you host a beach-tamed bash, that is. Think Beach Boys music, swimsuits, a hot tub and some seaside-themed decorations.
From a hot and beach straight to après-ski, why not party like you’ve just left the snowy slopes? Theme it right with piles of logs, skiwear and plenty of cosy blankets.
5. Christmas cocktail-making
Hands up who actually likes eggnog? Thought so! Get mixing some more creative Christmas drinks this yuletide for a very merry festive gathering. Bailey’s-based concoctions are, of course, obligatory.
