Pre Orders & Deposits
If an item is available to purchase on Pre Order it will be given an estimated date of availability. The reason why this is only an estimate is because throughout the year we have been experiencing delays in shipping mainly due to a shortage of containers in China, congestion at UK ports and now a further delay due to the Suez blockage. If there are delays we will endeavour to keep you informed via email or text messages. Due to unprecedented demand we encourage you to only contact us via email on info@burleydamgardencentre.co.ukÂ
When your order arrives we will contact you and arrange delivery.
If you have opted to pay a deposit to secure your Pre Order you will receive an email requesting payment of your balance. All balances must be paid prior to delivery. All pre orders must be taken within 14 days from when we contact you.
What is Weather Resistant Rattan ?
Synthetic rattan is suitable for both indoors and out and can take whatever the weather throws at it. It is made from polyethylene with an integral dye, which means that if it becomes scratched, it will not be noticeable. Synthetic rattan is resistant to rainwater, chlorine, sun lotions, seawater, frost and UV light. It is also resistant to mould and other micro-organisms and stains from spilled food and drink.
The furniture is all weaved by hand onto a sturdy, rust-proof aluminium frame and has been factory tested in temperatures from +40C to -40C , making the pieces totally weather resistant.
Synthetic rattan is also very attractive. It follows the design of traditional rattan furniture, which is made in South East Asia by weaving together several different species of native palm. Although natural rattan is sturdy and lightweight, it does not stand up to European weather and cannot be left outside.
Synthetic rattan, however, is an ideal choice for garden furniture. It is very comfortable and the traditional appearance complements any garden setting.
How to Care for Weather Resistant Rattan Garden Furniture
Weather resistant rattan is completely weatherproof but we recommend that the furniture is cleaned every year to maintain its appearance.
Use a soft brush and a bucket of warm, soapy water (a non-foaming or low-foam cleanser is best ) to remove dust and dirt and rinse well with a hose set on a fan setting.
Allow your set to dry before you replace the cushions.
Any glass tops can be polished with a soft cloth and glass cleaner. Always use placemats or boards to protect your glass tops from heat and scratches.
Winter care
Good quality weather resistant rattan furniture will always be built onto an aluminium frame, which will not rust when exposed to the elements and so can be left out all year round, but we do recommend covering your furniture during the winter to preserve its appearance.
Use a cover made specifically for your set or stack the pieces together as snugly as possible and cover as one as this will prevent them from blowing around the garden in high winds. Make sure the furniture is clean and dry before covering and tie the cover down securely to prevent flapping. If you have a set with a dining table, place a pole through the parasol hole to create a tent shape, which will ensure the water runs off.
Store your cushions in a dry place away from direct sun. Cleaning them before storing will ensure they look great when you bring them out on that first sunny day next spring!
