The festive season has only just begun (or is nearly about to start, depending on the mood you’re in!) and if you haven’t already, it will soon be time to pop your Christmas decorations up.
Last year, you might have thrown your Christmas lights in a ball or squished your tree topper in a box, putting it down to the post-Christmas blues stage, but that doesn’t help you right now. To avoid messy Christmas storage options and save yourself some holiday hassle, follow these tips:
Invest in an artificial Christmas tree
Artificial Christmas trees are much easier to clean up than real trees as they won’t shed needles. The branches are therefore easier to clean and fold up to pop back in the box or special bag it came in.
Keep the boxes
If you have invested in some new baubles, keep the boxes! They are usually specially designed to keep the ornament safe. Even if you don’t have the original packing or box, use newspaper to wrap them up. Find a box you might end up recycling and pad it with newspaper to keep the Christmas decorations safe.
Store Christmas lights properly
When the festive season is over, it may be tempting to roll up your Christmas lights and be done with them until next year, but to save the hassle of untangling them next time, wrap them around a piece of cardboard and then store them in a secure fabric or plastic container.
