Furniture designed for use outdoor use is generally made of materials – such as aluminium or rattan – that are durable and hard wearing.
Nevertheless, the British climate often means it may still need some protection. Luckily, there are steps you can take to keep your furniture in good condition.
Purchase furniture covers
One of the best and simplest ways to protect outdoor furniture is by covering it up.
Garland garden furniture covers, for example, will provide waterproof protection for tables, chairs and recliners to ensure they are protected from rain damage.
Keep it clean
Giving each item of furniture a good clean now and then will help keep it in tip top condition.
There can be some variation in the right method of cleaning, depending on whether you have wood, metal or rattan garden furniture. In each case, however, lukewarm water that does not have any detergent in it will be best to use.
Rattan or metal furniture should be wiped with a soft sponge, while hardwood may need a stiff brush. Any spillages should be cleaned off instantly, rather than allowed to dry and stain.
Store it away
If you have a place where your garden furniture can be stored during the autumn and winter, this is another good idea to keep them protected from the elements.
You could store them in a garden shed, if there is enough space, or you may even prefer to use a spare storage room in your home.
At Burleydam Garden Centre, we have a range of furniture covers to help keep your outdoor items clean, dry and free from damage.
