Tips for rewilding your garden

Something that is becoming a bit of a trend is the concept of rewilding. At the heart of it is the desire to restore green spaces to their natural states, complete with longer grass and wildflowers. It is good for biodiversity and can also produce attractive gardens.

This blog will offer some tips for rewilding your garden.

Stop using chemicals

Giving your lawn a manicured look involves the use of chemicals. They are needed for fertilisation and also for killing weeds, so the first step towards rewilding is to stop using them. They kill the insects and worms that you want to cultivate because they provide soil nutrients.

Allow the grass to grow

Once you have binned all the chemical weed killers, pesticides and fertilisers, it will be time to let your grass grow. Rake the soil to aerate it and then scatter some mixed seeds. The time to cut your grass will be in early autumn, which will allow new grass to grow for spring.

Choose your flowers carefully

A wildflower garden can be a beautiful thing to gaze at from your Supremo Tuscany furniture, but you must choose plants that benefit wildlife. Wild oregano and lavender are two great choices, because they draw birds, bees and insects to a garden.

Create a wildlife corridor

This will provide a safe travel route for animals like hedgehogs, so that they can avoid dangerous exposed areas. The best place to construct wildlife corridors is around the edges of your garden.

Why not try rewilding and bring your garden to life?
