Tips for redesigning your garden this year

We will soon be well into the rejuvenating season of spring, and with it being the season of new growth, it is the perfect time to start redesigning your garden, especially if you’ve been thinking about doing exactly that. There’s a lot to redesigning your garden, however, as it brings with it a lifetime of maintenance, so be prepared and plan well. The following are points to start thinking about before your redesign.

Focal point

Most gardens have a focal point; this can be whatever you’d like. In smaller gardens, this could be a particular plant, flower display, or stylish outback reclining chairs. Bigger spaces can benefit from water features or statues, depending on your garden’s style.

Lines

Consider the lines of your garden, as these will help create the feel of your space. Straight lines direct your eye a certain way and look neat. Curvy lines can also be neat, but create a more flowing, relaxed feel to your design.

Texture

The texture of everything in your garden should be factored into your design plans. These can make different impacts, especially when contrasting soft plants with hard landscapes, for example.

Colour

Colour is very important as this will form the basis of your scheme, flowing through flowers, rattan garden furniture, and other features. They will all need to complement each other. Some gardens focus on one particular colour, but others have a mixture of lots of different colours.

Sensory additions

While you’re sitting in your rattan garden furniture, it can also be very relaxing to have other sensory features in your garden, like the slow trickle from a water feature or wind chimes lifting in the breeze.
