Hanging baskets can be a great way to grow plants, fruit and vegetables if you do not have a garden – or have one with very limited space. They can add life and colour to your home, making it more pleasant to look at from your Supremo Carina furniture.
Here are three types of vegetables that are ideal for growing in hanging baskets.
Peas
In the case of peas, you are actually better off growing them this way. If you plant them in a garden, they will need to be supported by a trellis or pole. This will not be necessary if you put them in a hanging basket though, because the tendrils will have freedom to grow down. Just make sure you hang the basket in a location that gets plenty of sunlight, as peas need the sun.
Cucumbers
Cucumbers are another vegetable where the results can be better if you grow them in baskets.
When you plant them in the ground, they often end up bending during the growth process. This is due to uneven ground, which will not be an issue in a hanging basket. They will have space to grow without having to compete with other vegetables.
The baskets should be placed in a sunny area.
Lettuce
Lettuce will also perform better in baskets – albeit for a different reason. Growing them this way will offer protection against slugs, which chew through lettuce leaves. Slugs cannot reach hanging baskets, so your lettuce will be safe.
