For some, decorating the house for Christmas is a joy. Some even spread it out over several days as they have so much to do and love to take their time over it. However, for others, it is a task all the more joyous for being brief. If you are short of time or simply want to focus on other Christmas activities, here are three top tips for hassle-free decorating:
Pre-lit Christmas trees
If you are one of those people who finds themselves arguing with a strand of fairy lights every year, then a pre-lit Christmas tree could be for you. No unravelling cords and no stretching around the tree at impossible angles to get to the back. Simply take it out of the box and pop it up.
The more the merrier
This doesn’t mean more decorations, as we’re trying to limit stress and hassle, but rather that inviting people to share the decorating task means reducing the time spent on it. You could even turn it into a party atmosphere with some music and mulled wine.
Ignore the neighbours
This doesn’t mean literally of course. By all means invite them round for a mince pie if permitted, but it’s an advisable idea to turn a blind eye to whatever your neighbours have done decoration-wise. If they want to go full out with outdoor Christmas lights and inflatables in the front garden, great – it doesn’t mean you have to.
Decorating the house for Christmas should be fun and an opportunity to create some happy memories. If it’s an activity that stresses you out, give yourself permission to keep it simple.
