While most glossy magazine Christmas images are taken in sprawling homes and spacious living rooms, it doesn’t matter how big or small your home is. Here are three simple tips for creating a festive feeling if your space is tight:
Downsize your tree
There’s no doubt that the Christmas tree is often the centrepiece of festive decorations. However, it doesn’t have to be huge to be impressive. Artificial Christmas trees are available in small sizes and you could set one up on a sideboard or table. If floorspace is an issue but you have the height, you can get tall, ultra slimline trees. Twig trees are also a lovely alternative to traditional Christmas trees and take up very little space.
Get creative with lighting
The wonderful thing about fairy lights is that they can be strung just about anywhere and add instant sparkle, whether it is multicoloured and flashing or soft and warm. Wrap them around mirrors and cupboards, or attach them straight to a bare patch of wall in a festive shape, such as a tree or snowflake.
Soft furnishings
It will cost you no extra space to simply add a few Christmas cushions or throws to your sofa and chairs. Reds, greens and whites are typical choices, but there is a huge selection of Christmas-themed pictures and patterns, from cute to classy.
Hopefully, these ideas will help you to get started on creating your perfect Christmas, regardless of how petite your home is.
