It is often said that the best way to get birds to come to your garden is to set up feeders – and this is true. If you put bird feeders up in visible locations, you will soon be able to enjoy watching them from your Supremo Barcelona garden furniture. Many other common stories about bird feeding are myths though – like these:
If you feed them in summer, they won’t migrate
This is not only a common myth – it is a damaging one. It leads people to take down their feeders once summer has passed, when birds actually need the food most in winter. This is when other sources of food become harder to find, so your feeders could directly assist in their survival.
If you forget to fill your feeders, birds will leave
Another myth that many bird lovers believe is that birds will abandon their gardens if they forget to fill the feeders. This leads people to panic if they go on holiday without filling them. While it is true that birds will go elsewhere when your feeders are empty, they will soon return when your garden becomes an active food source once again.
Bird feeders make birds dependent
Some people worry that if they put up feeders, the birds will become dependent on them. This means they would lose the ability to find food for themselves. In reality, this is not true – feeders make up roughly 25% of the daily food consumed by birds.
Forget these myths and get your bird feeders filled up!
