How to make the most of National Great Outdoors Month

Many may not realise it, but June is National Great Outdoors Month!

This means it’s time to turn the television off and start exploring all that Britain has to offer. Follow these tips to make the absolute most of the month.

A picnic in the park

Most areas of the UK are blessed with rolling green spaces, and they can make for a marvellous spot for an early summer picnic.

Get together some sandwiches, cream cakes and cold drinks, and take the family to the nearest park. If you have some lightweight chairs – like those in the Lifestyle garden furniture range – you could even bring those to sit on.

A punt on the river

What could be more perfect for a summer’s day than a punt on the river?

It’s not particularly expensive to hire the use of a boat for the day, and as long as you have a stretch of water within travelling distance, there’s nothing stopping you. Just make sure that you remember to paddle the right way once you’re on the water!

Camping in the garden

You don’t even have to leave home to have fun during National Great Outdoors Month.

Purchase a tent or two and set them up in the back garden, so that the whole family can camp out for a weekend. If you want to make the experience more magical, try decorating the garden with a string of colourful solar lights. These can be switched on to illuminate the warm evenings, truly making it a summer to remember.
