How to decorate an artificial Christmas tree

It is hard to believe, but the festive season is looming on the horizon. Alongside thinking of ideas for gifts, this will also mean planning to decorate the home.

A Christmas tree is the centrepiece for most, and a good artificial one will look just like the real thing, while also creating less tidying up afterwards.

Read on for tips on how to decorate your artificial tree.

Fibre optic tree

Fibre optic pre-lit Christmas trees are an increasingly popular choice, and are the simplest when it comes to decorations. All you have to do is plug them in, and the lights built into the tree will start glowing and changing colours at intervals. They provide a classy, atmospheric focal point, and are available in colours ranging from traditional green to icy silver.

Spray on some snow

It is possible to add a touch of snow to an artificial tree by using flocking spray. This coats the tops of the branches in white frosting that really does look like they have been hit with a shower of snow. If you decide to flock your tree, keep the use of other decorations to a minimum, as it looks better when the branches are kept clear of clutter.

Brightly coloured baubles

Another popular way of decorating artificial Christmas trees is to add festive themed baubles in different colours to the ends of each branch. Pick a colour palette, whether it is cool blues and silvers, or warmer shades like red, and stick with it to achieve the best possible effect.
