Four of the best RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gardens

With the Chelsea Flower Show now over for 2019, we take a look back at what was on display. The specially designed gardens are always a highlight, and gardeners this year took inspiration from Manchester, Latin America, Facebook, gin and more.

Facebook: Beyond the Screen

Joe Perkins’ garden was conceived with young people in mind, and post-show will be used as a gathering place for them to share ideas and interests. The garden had a coastal theme, with the oceans representing the connections between our social media and real-life selves.

The Manchester Garden

The silver medal winning Manchester Garden combined local sandstone with particularly adaptable and resilient species of trees and plants. The theme was the development of sustainable, beneficial public parks in built-up areas.

The Silent Pool Gin Garden

Gin is very much the drink of the moment, and this was reflected in Silent Pool’s gin garden, which received a silver gilt medal. Visitors were encouraged to focus on the process of distillation, and the garden featured a spectacular water wall with a juniper bonsai tree within, echoing the product and its branding. It’s easy to imagine relaxing on your Outback reclining chairs with a gin in this lovely space.

The Trailfinders ‘Undiscovered Latin America’ Garden

Travel company Trailfinders specialises in tailor made, worldwide travel itineraries, and their flower show garden showcased Latin America. The steeply sloped plot was designed and landscaped to draw attention to the fragility of South America’s temperate rainforests. It included lush, tropical plants, two cascading waterfalls and an eye-catching bright red walkway.
