Five budget BBQ ideas

With the cost of living on the rise, you may be looking for ways to save money this summer. Here are some ideas for hosting a BBQ on a budget.

Plan your meals

Planning your meals goes for every meal, not just the ones you intend on having on the BBQ. This means you don’t go overboard with buying food and you should end up with exactly the amount you need for the occasion.

Experiment with cuts of meat

There are lots of choices in the supermarket, and you don’t always have to go with the most expensive. Try slicing regular burger patties or sausages and stuffing them with your favourite cheese – cheaper doesn’t have to mean boring!

Get saucy

Supermarket own-brand sauces are also just as good as the named brands, and serving them in clear dishes means you don’t even have to tell your guests where you got them!

Don’t forget the sides

A BBQ is not complete without a little bit on the side. Make your own pasta or potato salad to impress your guests. Alternatively, chips, potatoes and corn on the cob are all inexpensive and easy to make. They are also very filling, so you won’t need to buy as much meat.

Reduce waste

Meats and veggies you don’t end up cooking can be frozen to be used at another date, so you never have to waste anything.

The good news is you can still make use of your Charles Taylor garden furniture and have your summer BBQs with these handy ideas.
