Lights are a key part of any festive decoration.
They may not look like much during the day, but when night falls, there is nothing like a twinkling lit-up Christmas tree, or a glowing mantelpiece. Lights can also look great outside the home, as long as you select the right ones.
Icicle Lighting
One of the quirkiest and most popular types of exterior lighting are icicle lights.
True to their name, they are shaped like drops of ice, and can be hung from the guttering or the roof outside your house. You can even add some artificial snow to create your own magical “White Christmas”, even if the weather doesn’t want to oblige.
Figure Lighting
A display of festive figures outside your home will be much more effective if they can be lit up after dark. You can buy figures depicting Santa Claus and his reindeer that plug in and light up at night, so the real Santa Claus will know which house in your street to stop at first.
String Lighting
Another popular choice among people who want to have Christmas lights outside their homes is string lighting. This type of light will work well on a tree in your front garden, but also along the roof, due to their even spacing.
Cluster lighting
Last but not least, cluster lights are very similar to string ones, but contain more bulbs. This works to create a fuller, brighter effect when they are switched on. They will be an ideal addition to either your guttering or the front of your roof over the festive season.
