If there’s one rule you should adhere to when it comes to Christmas decorations, it’s that an empty space is an opportunity for more decorations! Most of us have the usual places for our artificial Christmas trees, but it may be time to consider that empty wall space for a sprig of holly, or that sparse shelf in the corner for a new woodland ornament.
1. Make your current decor festive
This year, try blending your usual home decorations with a festive spin. For example, placing sprigs of holly, mistletoe or pine branches around your photo frames or light fixtures can really transform the place into a winter wonderland. Another idea is to place wreaths along your cupboard or bookcase to add a Christmas feel to your everyday furniture.
2. Christmas lights
Christmas lights are not just for your tree. They can be hung from the ceiling, wrapped around bannisters or lined along doorways. One idea is to create a trail of lights from your front door to your Christmas tree, creating a grotto effect.
3. Add comfort to your ordinary spaces
There are spaces we may miss when putting up our Christmas decorations. Sometimes this can be an overlooked area, such as an entryway or a hallway. Simply adding a comfy Christmas throw or adding a bit of sparkle or greenery can really brighten these areas up and add to the festive theme.
Garden centres are great places to source Christmas decorations, whichever way you decide to dress up your home this holiday season.
