The Christmas to-do list that starts in September

Christmas is often said to be one of the most magical times of the year, but it can also bring a lot of stress when it comes to planning, buying gifts and budgeting. One of the main things to remember is that it’s never too early to start planning, so this guide can help you get started.

September

September is the perfect time to do small tasks such as update your Christmas card and gift lists so you can begin to budget. This also helps because you can then spread the cost over the next few months rather than buying all in one go in December.

October

You can start Christmas shopping as early as you like, although October is probably the perfect time to start looking around, since it is still fairly mild and the nights aren’t as dark yet. You may also be able to secure your Christmas appointments or food delivery slots, as it can get quite busy.

November

November is the perfect time to start writing your Christmas cards. You can save money and use second class stamps, as you will be posting early.

Another thing to do is stock up on wrapping paper and Sellotape, as well as tags, gift bags and stocking fillers for any last-minute gifts.

December

By December, hopefully you will be well on your way to budgeting and organising presents, so you can switch your focus to enjoying the festivities and decorating your home with everything from fairy lights to artificial Christmas trees.
