What type of lights should you put on your Christmas tree?

There is nothing more redolent of the festive season than a Christmas tree festooned with twinkling lights. Choosing the right type of lights for your particular tree can be tricky though, as there are several types available. This blog will take a look at each of them and when they should be used.

String lights

One of the most popular and versatile choices is string lights, and these are sure to look attractive on most trees. They are especially effective if you have quite a bushy tree though, because they make it easy to achieve a balanced look.

They will also be a good pick if you favour a more traditional style for your Christmas tree.

Cluster lights

These lights are much more densely packed together, which leads to a brighter overall effect. You will usually find that the bulbs are just 2.5cm away from each other. This will make for an excellent choice if you have a large Christmas tree – particularly one that is around 6ft tall. This is because more sparse strings of lights will get lost amid all the branches and leaves.

Solar or battery lights

These are fairy lights that are powered without the use of electricity. They will be ideal if you are putting a tree somewhere without a plug socket close by. This could be your front garden or your porch, to name a couple of examples.

Whatever type of tree you have chosen, there will be festive lights to suit it perfectly this Christmas.
