Tips for lighting up your back garden this summer

Summer is the time of year when people want to be in their gardens. It is the season for relaxing in your Outback reclining chairs with an ice-cold drink.

Sometimes, the socialising will go on into the night, and this is when garden lights can be useful. This blog will provide some pointers for creating attractive lighting effects.

Make the base decorative

String lights for the garden are often hung from a wooden pole, but there are things you can do to make this more decorative. One idea is to base the pole inside a plant pot and put some flowers around it. In addition to improving the look, the earth in the pot will add stability to the pole.

Go for double lighting

Combining a string of lights with some other form of illumination can make for a pleasing contrast. One option is to buy some garden lanterns, as the soft glow from them will stand out from the string lights. Another is to create your own lanterns by putting candles inside glass jars. You can even hang them from pieces of string.

Create colourful trees

Instead of hanging your strings of lights in the standard way, why not put them up in a tree? The branches will make for an ideal place to drape them from, and a tree lit up in different colours makes for a magical vision. It will be the perfect backdrop to an evening party in your garden.

This blog has hopefully provided some tips to help you brighten up your back garden in preparation for summer.
