Everyone strives for lush, green grass, especially during the summer time, when there are more opportunities to spend time outdoors on your rattan garden furniture.
Luckily, caring for your lawn is one of the easiest ways to maintain the appearance of your garden and there are a few steps you can take to keep your grass looking bright and healthy.
Use fertiliser
Fertiliser can be used on your lawn several times during the year, ideally at the start of spring, summer and autumn. It’s important to mow your lawn before spreading fertiliser and then spread it through the blades of grass for even coverage. You can then leave this to settle for 24 hours.
Leave grass clippings
After mowing, instead of raking away your grass clippings, an easy way to help your grass grow is to leave these to decompose and send nutrients back into the soil.
Water for longer periods
Instead of giving your grass short bursts of water every now and again, watering it for longer periods a few times a week will allow the moisture to sink down to the roots and soak it up. You can do this every few days to give the grass time to drink.
Don’t cut it too short
It can be tempting to keep cutting your grass right down to the ground because there will be longer between cuts. However, shorter grass will mean the grass blades won’t be able to photosynthesise as much, so it will take longer to grow lush and healthy. The recommended height of your lawn is around two to three inches.
By following these tips, you should be well on your way to having a lush, green lawn to enjoy.
