Watching a film together as a family is a time-honoured festive activity, but with so many great movies out there, it can be hard to choose.
For that reason, we have listed some of the best ones in this blog. So, switch on the Christmas lights, grab the mince pies and settle down in front of one of these classics.
Miracle on 34th Street
One of the most famous Christmas films ever made is this tearjerker from 1947. The plot revolves around a man who is employed as Father Christmas in a department store and who insists that he is the real deal. He has to convince everyone that it is true – including a sceptical child played by the young Natalie Wood.
Elf
This next choice is a more modern film that was released in 2003. The main character of Buddy is a boy who climbs into Father Christmas’s bag and ends up being taken to the North Pole. He is brought up by the elves, but decides to go home to find his real father. Starring Will Ferrell, it has achieved classic status over the last 20 years.
A Charlie Brown Christmas
This is a festive film based on the famous comic strip Peanuts. It features all of the key characters, including Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy. Although it is less well-known in this country, the movie is a true festive tradition in the US. Why not give it a go this year?
Any one of these three films will be ideal family viewing at Christmas.
