Christmas is an exciting time for all the family but producing gift ideas for everyone each year gets harder and harder, especially when things are becoming more expensive. However, there are plenty of ways to save money this Christmas, including the following gift giving ideas that reduce overspending and can make things a little more exciting!
Prioritising the kids
Even though Christmas isn’t exclusively for kids, there’s nothing like seeing their faces light up when opening that toy they have asked Santa for, surrounded by the Christmas decorations. One of the ways a lot of people reduce overspending is to prioritise the kids at Christmas, and most parents get more joy at seeing their children happy.
Secret Santa
Everybody knows what Secret Santa is, and a lot of workplaces adopt this tradition in order to ensure everyone gets a gift. The idea is to pick someone’s name out of the hat and only buy them a present, before exchanging them all without revealing who the gift giver is. It’s also a way to have fun as some gifts can get crazy!
White Elephant
In this less common Secret Santa variation, everyone purchases a present of the same value and then everyone picks a random one out of a bag. The fun starts when you can choose to steal a gift from someone who had already picked in case you like the look of their package more!
Just remember – no one is obligated to buy gifts and some people may struggle, so do what you can to help others this festive season.
