Once you put out feeders, there are certain types of common birds that you can expect to see in your garden. One of them is the wren, which is a frequent sight in the UK. This blog will tell you all you need to know about them.
How to spot them
It can sometimes be a bit tricky to spot wrens, because they vary quite a lot in terms of their colouring. Some of them have simple brown feathers while others are a lively mix of reddish brown, white and black. They are always small in size though and make a lovely sound. Wrens are songbirds, which makes them soothing to listen to when sitting on your rattan garden furniture.
Where to spot them
When they are in the garden, wrens usually keep quite near to the ground. They choose areas that offer plenty of dense cover, such as close to hedges or bushes. This is because it offers them more protection from potential predators like cats. If you want to bring wrens to your garden, try placing your feeders and bird bath in those kinds of spots.
What they eat
Wrens mostly like to eat insects, with both beetles and spiders being favoured choices. You may be thinking that if this is the case, there is no point in putting out feeders for them – but you would be wrong. They also like to eat fat balls, particularly during the winter months. These provide much-needed energy for them.
Wrens are lovely little birds and easy to attract to your garden.
