Making some of the essentials for the festive season yourself can add a personal touch and let you exercise your creativity. From the tree to gifts and even wrapping paper, there are plenty of options for a DIY Christmas.
A twig tree
People often debate whether to buy a real or an artificial Christmas tree, but few consider making one themselves. It is possible to do so though, if you look at twig trees.
These are made out of twigs and sticks that are fashioned into a tree shape. When finished, they look like wintry trees and can be decorated with other natural items like different coloured dried fruits.
A homemade hand lotion
Hand lotion is a great gift to give to a friend, but why not make it yourself?
Mix 125g of coconut oil and 250g of granulated sugar in a bowl. Then, add around 15 drops of your favourite oil – think citrus, peppermint or lavender. After stirring this together, all you have to do is store the finished lotion in a jar or any other container that is airtight.
Bubble print Christmas paper
If you have created your own gift, the next stage is to wrap it in personalised paper.
Pour a little washing up liquid, food colouring and water into a deep baking tray. Then, blow into it using a straw. Once colourful bubbles begin to pop up, gently press a sheet of paper onto them. When the paper is dry, you will be left with quirky coloured patterns.
We hope you find these tips useful for a crafty Christmas this year!
