Before long, spring will have replaced winter. Then it will be time to get the BBQ out and laze on your Outback reclining chairs while the smell of grilling food wafts around the garden. You should make sure the grill is ready though, and here is a guide to that.
Give it a spring clean
Take the grates off and scrub them using a hard wire brush along with baking soda and water. Then give the burners a clean, making sure there are no blockages. Next, it is time for the grease tray, which will need to be emptied before washing. Finally, use a soft cloth to wipe the outside.
Do a safety inspection
After everything has been cleaned, you should carry out a grill safety inspection. Check for signs of rust or cracking on the burners and replace them if need be. Other considerations to watch out for include connections that are loose and gas line damage.
Buy key items
There are some key items you will need for spring BBQs, including either charcoal or gas (depending on which type you have); tools like a meat thermometer, grill brush and spatula; and hot sauces, wood chips and pellets for seasoning.
Sort out the hot spots
If you have a gas BBQ, you should look for signs of uneven distribution of heat by putting white bread on your grates and firing it up. When you know where the hot spots are, you can switch the grates to spread heat more evenly.
