Now is definitely the time to start thinking about your Christmas decorations for this year, and not just indoors either. While most of us focus on our indoor Christmas decorations, the outdoor decorations are the first ones your guests will see when they arrive, so this year is the time to try something new to impress your visitors.
1. Go big or go home
This saying can be applied to anything in theory, but this year it applies to your outdoor Christmas decorations. The idea here is to go oversized with your decorations. Imagine supersized baubles on your front lawn or life size nutcrackers on your porch. Your house will be the talk of the street!
2. Reindeer
As well as life size nutcrackers, an idea this year is to create a woodland scene with reindeer decorating your garden. Nothing says Christmas like Santa’s reindeer, and you can even place his sleigh nearby if you’re feeling extra Christmassy.
3. Live out a Christmas movie
We’ve all seen those cheesy feel-good Christmas movies where the couple or family get snowed in and have a great time baking cookies and snowball fighting. One idea is to decorate your porch or garden as if your house is in that Christmas movie. Place some lanterns either side of your door, a pile of logs for the fire or even a wooden ski set casually leaning against the side of your house.
4. Christmas lights
Christmas isn’t complete without lights, so don’t forget to decorate the front of your house with Christmas lights, even if you do nothing else this year. You’re guaranteed to give everyone who passes by a warm feeling.
Turning your home into a winter wonderland may not be something you’ve done in the past, but that’s no reason to not consider trying it out this year.
