April is a perfect time for growth in the garden. Not only can you start to get your rattan garden furniture out ready for the warmer days, you can also start a few jobs that might not have previously been possible before the spring. This is important in the lead up to the summer, especially if you plan to host gatherings outdoors.
Look after your lawn
The colder, winter months can do lots of damage to your grass, so now is the time to start building it back up to its full health. You can start to cut it now but not too short, and make sure to fill any bald patches with seed or new turf.
Protect your plants
It’s important not to plant too many blooms right now, as the weather is still subject to getting colder before it gets to its warmest; some plants may still be at risk against the frost. More fragile plants can be wrapped up or moved to warmer areas of the garden.
Keep on top of your weeds
Weeds do grow throughout the winter but spring might see quite a few more pop up, so it’s important to keep on top of these so they don’t get out of hand too quickly.
Prepare your patio
The patio can gather a build-up of debris and dirt stains over the winter. Once you’ve got the weeds up, sweep any extra leaves or twigs away and give the patio a good clean, just in case there are some sunny days during April that you don’t want to go to waste!
