3 alternatives to burgers on the BBQ

BBQ season means that, weather permitting, you can get out your Charles Taylor garden furniture, show off your garden and have some great food.

Now when it comes to food, everyone is different. Burgers on the BBQ are a popular choice, and most people love them, but what if you’ve got people coming who aren’t keen on burgers or don’t eat meat? You may have to think of a few alternatives that are still great for cooking on the BBQ. Luckily, we’ve rounded up a few recipes below.

Chicken (or vegetarian equivalent) skewers

Chicken skewers make great BBQ choices because you can fill your skewer up with meat and veg and cook several on the BBQ at a time. They’re also a bit lighter than burgers and buns so you will probably have room for some tasty side dishes. If you don’t want to use chicken, you can use a meat-free product, or a popular choice that goes great with vegetables such as halloumi.

Vegetable fritters

Vegetable fritters make tasty additions to any BBQ selection, and they can be eaten as a main dish or as part of a buffet-style BBQ if you prefer to make a selection of food for your guests to pick from.

Salt and pepper steak

This option is more meaty, but can cook quite quickly on the BBQ, giving your meat lovers a delicious option and an alternative to a burger. Providing lots of side dishes that compliment steak will give your guests the opportunity to build their own preferred meal.
